Wayward Son is a guild for everybody. It is our wish that everyone who wants to be a part of our community has fun above all else, no matter your age, social status, or walk of life. In order to help everyone remember this, there are several guidelines we use to outline what behavior we suggest to be successful in Wayward Son.

Conduct/Overview

1: We value respect in this guild, and any disrespect will be dealt with harshly.

2: We do not harass fellow guildies OR strangers for any reason. We appreciate maturity and ask that all of our members use common sense when making decisions.

3: We do not beg for gold or items under any circumstances. We like to help, but it is not in our best interest to engage in hand-holding.

4: We encourage grouping with others to overcome obstacles, but we do not engage in power-leveling.

5: No drama. Seriously. We are a guild, not a reality show.

We believe this game should be fun for everybody, and will deal with those who hinder that philosophy without hesitation. The guild tag above your head means that everywhere you go, and everything you do, is representative of Wayward Son. It is your responsibility as a member to uphold our philosophy wherever you happen to be with whatever activity you are doing. Failure to understand this will likely result in the tag being removed so your behavior will only be representative of yourself, instead.

Activities

While we are fortunate enough to have a raid group, it is our goal to provide an experience that everyone can enjoy. Membership in Wayward Son does not require raiding. Guildies are free to explore any avenue of play which they find to be the most rewarding for them and their time constraints. That said, any members who wish to join the raid group should refer to the “Raiding” section below.
We like to try to provide other activities for guildies to participate in aside from the basics the game has to offer, and new activities will pop up from time to time. Any and all suggestions for activities that would be fun for members are welcome.

Ranks

New Recruit – New members will be a New Recruit for a 2-week evaluation period upon joining the guild. New recruits may participate in any guild activities, however they do not have access to the guild bank. Further, the New Recruit period may be extended if the recruit has not registered for the guild website and forums, and at or before the end of 2 weeks membership may be terminated due to recruit not following the guidelines and/or lack of participation and effort.

Member – Once a new guildie has been evaluated and determined to be a good fit for our community, they will be promoted to the Member rank. This is the main rank of the guild, and provides access to the guild bank and invitation rights to scout friends that would be a good fit into our community.

Lieutenant - An intermediary rank meant to give those members of exceptional quality and drive more responsibility and pull within the guild.  Lieutenants have a few Officer rights and are the go-to people in the event the GM and Officers are not available.

Officer - Pretty self-explanatory. Officers provide support to the GM and are responsible for providing a good example to the guild and host events, solve any conflicts, and help enforce guidelines.

Character alts may be placed in an alt rank with equivalent responsibilities and privileges as their main.

Raiding

Once again, raiding is not required to be a member of Wayward Son, but our ultimate goal is to flesh out a level 80 25-man raid group. At this time, we field 1 10-man group that raids throughout the week and are working on a second. Outlined below are the general guild guidelines for our raids.

1: Be prepared. When attending a raid, make sure to come prepared for the night. Bring food, flasks, reagents, potions, and make sure your armor is repaired. Further, make sure to pay attention to what the raid group is going to be doing and research the fights and the instance beforehand, to cut down on confusion and time wasted explaining things that are more easily read on your own.

2: Be on time. If a raid is scheduled at 8:00, that means it starts at 8:00. Make sure to be online and at the raid location on time, as the more time we waste waiting for everyone to show up, the less time we have to run the dungeon.

3: Be respectful. We have to have rules to keep everything organized, but we try to be laid back and have a good time while we are raiding. The rest of the guild guidelines still apply during these raids, so make sure you are respectful to the rest of your team, and follow the directions of the Raid Leader, in order to make everything run smoothly. Do not complain about strategies or loot. There are ways to express disagreement without throwing a tantrum. They usually meet with much more success, as well.

4: Be attentive to the calendar. Raids will be posted both on the website and on the calendar in-game. It is your responsibility to Accept/Decline the raids so that the Raid Leaders can make the necessary adjustments to the invitations. Do not ignore the invitations and just show up, as you may be passed out of the raid in favor of someone who was attentive and accepted their invitation.

5: We use Ventrilo. Learn it, love it. All raiders are required to have and be on Ventrilo during raids, and in the proper channel. Also, having a microphone is preferred. We understand not everyone has access to one, but it makes communication a LOT easier.

6: Loot. Wayward Son uses a Loot Council system to distribute our loot. We feel that with our guild culture and relaxed, friendly play style that this is the easiest and most effective way to distribute loot. Items that cannot effectively be used by anyone will be disenchanted and put in the guild bank for guild enchantments, should an enchanter be present in the raid. Roll priority is as follows: Main Spec->Off Spec->Disenchant->Greed. Additionally, we attempt to be as fair as possible, so keep in mind that if more than one person in the group can use a given item, but one of them has won loot already, they may be asked to bow out of a particular roll to give someone else a chance to win something. These loot rules will remain constant no matter who the Raid Leader is.

7: Be the best you can be. This is the most important thing you can do to be successful in our raid groups. Bring your A game to every raid. Your teammates are all trying their best, and to be successful we all need to work together. Pay attention, don’t let up, and focus. If you want to raid, you already know that it requires perseverance. If you can’t do what is required, you should find something else to do.

If you are interested in being a part of our raid team, contact a Raid Leader for available openings and evaluation. Remember this: there is much more that goes into raid slot selection than a fancy gear score or achievements. Follow the guidelines above, show your skill, learn your class, and if everything together shows you are ready and we can use you, you will be included.

Thank you for your interest in our guild and welcome to our community! We hope you enjoy your time with us as much as we do!
